Wedding Recap: Getting Ready

I thought June 8 would never come! I was so excited and just ready for everything to get started. When I woke up (feeling refreshed – thanks, Unisom), Gwen was already at the house setting up for a bridal breakfast with my wedding party and the moms before the hair and makeup craziness began.

Gwen is one of my mom’s closest friends and is a party planner extraordinaire. She really is incredible – everything stuck with the green and black theme and was so cute, from the champagne to the generous gifts she gave to all of my bridesmaids. When Gwen asked me how I wanted the morning of my wedding to go, I said I wanted it to be really laid-back and relaxed since I knew the rest of the day would go by so fast. Gwen served my favorite breakfast sandwiches from Model Bakery – they were just what I needed! We had mimosas and just spent a couple of hours talking. It was the perfect way to start the day.

After breakfast, the Makeup Dolls arrived to do our hair and makeup. Our photography contract didn’t start until after the hair/makeup, so these are just a few pics from my camera of us getting pretty.

After hair and makeup were complete, it was time to head to Silverado and get into my dress in time for our first look. I got dressed and put on my shoes with some help from my mom and bridesmaids. Sean and I decided to exchange gifts right before our first look- he got me the most beautiful pave bracelet! So beautiful and it looked perfect with my dress and wedding band.

Meanwhile…the guys were having a fun morning too! They had a bloody mary brunch and got straight razor shaves at a barber shop in downtown Napa before heading back to Silverado to get ready.

Like everyone else, I love Fall and am so excited it’s October. Top things I’m looking forward to this month…

1) Portland trip: Sean and I are going to Portland for the weekend to eat, drink and sightsee. I fell in love with Portland in May when my dad and I went for a couple of days. It’s like a small, more affordable San Francisco with more rain. We are going to do a food truck bike tour on Saturday that stops at Voodoo doughnuts, can’t wait!

2) Terranium Class: I’m taking a class with a friend to learn how to make terraniums! I’m not sure what to expect but it will be a good chance to get some green into our apartment. Workshop SF has some really cool DIY classes that aren’t too expensive for any locals.

3) Philadelphia trip: My friend Emily just started grad school in Philly so a bunch of us are going to visit her. It will be fun to have a little San Francisco friends reunion.

4) Book Club: In an attempt to read more, I am joining a book club! The first meeting we’re just getting together to drink wine and pick out the book. I already know I’m going to like it.
